Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN)
IHVN is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 to address the HIV/AIDS crisis in Nigeria through developing infrastructure for treatment, care, prevention, and support for people living with and those affected with HIV/AIDS. IHVN has now expanded its services to other infectious diseases like tuberculosis and malaria and non- infectious diseases, including cancers. As a local organization, the Institute is structured to develop and maintain linkages within and outside the country in collaborative ways that support the Government of Nigeria’s health sector strategic plans. IHVN key technical and funding partners include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It has trained thousands of health care professionals, developed midwifery and community health practitioner curricula, generated evidence for policy, supported national guidelines /standard operating procedures, and conducted implementation research and quality improvement in health facilities and within government agencies. As part of the EQUAL consortium, IHVN will work in Yobe State to conduct a longitudinal assessment of midwifery education and services and an evaluation of readiness and quality of MNH care in health facilities.

Charity Pring’ar Maina
Charity has worked in public service for more than two decades as a Nurse and Midwife. She has also worked in the Education ministry to accelerate the sector’s response to HIV Prevention. She has a wealth of experience in curriculum development and implementation for both pre - service and in - service Nurses, Midwives and Community Health Workers. Charity has worked with several non-governmental organizations, community-based, faith-based and civil society organizations. She has also interfaced with international organizations. As a Senior Training officer and Coordinator Health System strengthening at IHVN, she ensured that the right trainings are provided and aligned to meet the organizational goals. Charity who is also a Social Worker, has over the years, consistently developed herself for greater responsibilities in research. She is Co - PI / Project Manager for EQUAL.

Dr. Emilia Ngozi Iwu
Dr. Iwu, is the Principal Investigator for EQUAL-Nigeria. She is a US based Assistant Professor, Acting Dean for Global Health, Family Nurse Practitioner and Researcher with extensive international/community health and HIV treatment experience (in the US and Nigeria). She has been a Technical Advisor for nursing and community programs with IHVN through a Center for Disease Control & Prevention/PEPFAR funded program since 2005. Dr. Iwu obtained Associate Degrees in Nursing and Midwifery at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu and Iyi-Enu Hospital, Ogidi in Nigeria. She later obtained her Bachelors in School Health at Rowan University; Bachelors, Masters and PhD in Nursing at Rutgers University; and Post-Doctoral at University of Pennsylvania. Her clinical and research work focus on vulnerable women, children and families. She maintains clinical practice in New Jersey. She worked as an Assistant Professor at University of Maryland, School of Nursing until 2013 and later transitioned to Rutgers School of Nursing where she continued her technical advisory role at 50% of her faculty time. Dr. Iwu spends considerable time in Nigeria to oversee research projects. Her work includes nursing and community program implementation, evaluation and research, technical support for policy, collaboration with Nursing & Midwifery Council as well as Community Health Practitioner Board to strengthen health workforce.

George Odonye
George Odonye is the Data Management Unit Lead at IRCE, IHVN supporting a large portfolio of projects including EQUAL and prior studies including those focused on NCDs, diabetes, cervical cancer, tuberculosis and many other critical health issues. Within this capacity, George maintains data integrity in compliance with defined standards and works diligently to improve unit tools and process efficiency, ensure on time delivery of accurate data. George brings with him extensive experience with and expertise in diverse data management tools including REDCAP, KOBOTOOLBOX, STATA AND R, and has completed numerous training courses in research and epidemiology. George has a BSC in Psychology and an MSC in Forensic Psychology from Nasarawa State University Keffi. George has consulted for Management Sciences for Health an international NGO to facilitate on HIV abstinence and to run a mobile rapid testing in some selected states in Nigeria. He has also conducted interviews using standardized tools to assess mental health disorders, deliver appropriate psychological treatment, and evaluate progress and outcome of treatment.

Rifkatu Aimu Sunday
Rifkatu Aimu Sunday is a maternal, neonatal and child health specialist. She guides the development and implementation of programs to scale-up Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services in Nigeria as Senior Program Officer, Prevention, Care and Treatment at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). She trains and mentors health care providers to provide quality HIV services to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children. Rifkatu also participates in supervising over 300 health facilities supported by the Institute to ensure efficient clinic processes that address barriers to client care, while supervising community volunteers who track defaulting clients.Her duties also include, coordinating cervical cancer screening services in IHVN supported health facilities. Mrs Sunday is a registered nurse and midwife with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Services from the Maryam Abacha American University in Maradi, Niger Republic. Her over 15 years of experience is in public health and in provision of clinical care to women and children. She is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and has attended several courses in PMTCT and pediatric care. Her hobbies are reading, cooking as well as playing badminton. She is married with three children.

Sussan Israel-Isah
Sussan Israel-Isah serves as a Qualitative Research analyst for EQUAL. She is an experienced implementation science researcher with over 5 years working in health research and intervention projects. Sussan has worked with several NGOs and is currently a Research Coordinator at the International Research Centre for Excellence, Institute of Human Virology Nigeria. As a trained researcher, she brings a unique approach to her work, combining her expertise in research with her understanding of the environmental, behavioural, and social factors that influence health outcomes. She also has rich experience in managing research projects and teams by providing strategic oversight and effective coordination.

Ayodeji Kazeem Olalekan
Ayodeji Kazeem Olalekan is a demographer and a public health research and learning expert with over a decade of experience in data management and analysis, program monitoring and evaluation, design, and implementation of large-scale surveys, as well as research management and administration. He has functioned in diverse research roles ranging from data manager, data analyst, quality control and National monitor on several research and development projects funded by JHU, DFID, SwissTPH, UNITAID, etc and has a proven high-level proficiency in quantitative and quantitative research procedures as well as applied knowledge of data management and analysis. At the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, Ayodeji Kazeem Olalekan earned a master's degree in demography and social statistics. He has since helped to co-author an estimated 17+ publications.

Dr. Rejoice Helma Abimiku
Dr. Rejoice Abimiku is a Biomedical Scientist with 8 years of experience in teaching and research. Abimiku holds a Doctorate degree (PhD) in Medical Microbiology from the Nasarawa State University Keffi, Nigeria. He is currently a Technical Advisor, Sr. Manager Scientist in EQUAL , and a Research Coordinator at the International Research Center of Excellence of IHVN where he provides technical support in research methodology, trainings, quality assurance and standard procedures, protocols, policies, concept notes writing, development of abstracts and manuscripts publication, data analysis, results interpretation, and dissemination of findings, and engaging one health across the globe. He belongs to several professional bodies including the Public Health Alliance for Genomic Epidemiology (PHA4GE) Training and Workforce Development Working Group with the University of Western Cape, the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), and Editorial & Research Evaluation Board member with the Global Scientific Journals. Rejoice has published over 33 peer reviewed articles.

Uzoma Florence Nwofor
As Manager Communications, Ms. Uzoma Florence Nwofor oversees the development and implementation of strategic communication plans and campaigns for the Institute. She ensures promotion of the Institute’s activities, increased brand awareness, and collaboration with partners for effective social behavior change programs. Ms. Nwofor supervises corporate relations activities, management of the website and social media platforms for IHVN. She also manages media engagement and collaboration to address communicable and non-communicable diseases like HIV, tuberculosis, COVID-19 etc. in line with the Institute’s objectives. Prior to assuming the responsibilities of Manager Communications, she served as Senior, Social Behaviour Change Officer, and Information, Education and Communication (IEC). In these roles she handled the development of over 100 different communication materials including posters, pamphlets, flyers, flip charts, wall charts to meet health communication needs of the public. She has also organized several campaigns, conferences and International events to raise awareness on HIV, tuberculosis, gender-based violence, blood donation etc. Ms. Nwofor is an alumnus of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where she earned a B.Sc. in Sociology. She has also attended several courses within and outside Nigeria. These include the Integrated Marketing Communication for Behavioral Impact in Health and Social Development organized by the New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, and Human Development. She also participated in the Leadership in Strategic Health Communication course by the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communications Programs and Center for Communications Programs Nigeria.
